How do I make Metal/wood crates (without using paper)?

Styren for metal and craft sticks or icy pole sticks for wood.

That, though wood will pass for metal if you want to put the work in.

Styrene will work for metal crates after you paint it. Craft sticks, coffee stirrers (free at Starbucks ), or balsa wood for wooden ones.

even wooden ones will work, just coat it in spackle let dry and buff. then paint. spackle will hide the wood grain and imperfections. i made a cat walk out of a clemetines crate, coated it in spackle and it looks like it is metal.
