Why the project didn't see the light of day was because of Chris Nolan hated and didn't want have another Batman floating around, thus competing with and possibly causing confusion with his Batman, and that pesty writers strike. Fat Man on Batman 82: Mad Max & George Miller's Justice League - YouTube

Justice League: Mortal would have starred Armie Hammer as Batman, D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Adam Brody as Flash, Common as Green Lantern, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Teresa Palmer as Talia Al Ghul, Zoe Kasan as Iris Allen, and Jay Baruchel as the villain of the piece, Maxwell Lord.

No wonder we kept hearing rumors about Common being cast as Jon Stewart, it because he already had been.
