One site I read stated Onslaught is a BAF. So Rogue likely just comes with the iconic head.

I remember Legends waves where I'd want 3/4 of the figures. Most of the ones now are 5th tier at best.

No one is saying the Inhumans are a substitute for the Xmen, I'm just saying they are awesome in their own right. They've been around a long, long time.

I keep hearing people say the Inhumans are Marvel's Xmen substitute. Is this conjecture or has someone at Marvel confirmed this is their plan?

While I respect your opinion, I couldn't disagree more. The recent flood of Inhumans are Disney's attempt to push mutant-like characters whose movie rights aren't owned by Fox. It's their work around to the "X-Men problem".

The problem with that plan is that the characters are completely uninteresting and a farce compared to the real mutants. They are a sad, empty substitute.

"I know you like driving that Corvette, but here's a Ford Focus. It's just the same. Sporty and everything! You won't know the difference... unless you drive it. Or race it. Or look at it. Or try to sell it. Or attempt to pick up chics. Otherwise, it's exactly the same!"

F#$% the Inhumans.

I know they've been around a long long time. I have never found them to be interesting in the slightest, but that's merely my perspective. Again, not hating on your opinion, but this is just how I see them, i.e. total-zero characters.

There was a lot of speculation last year when all the FF and X-Men members had been removed from posters, t-shirts, and promotional material that they were being black-balled by Marvel because they didn't own the rights to the movies. Then the Inhumanity event came and suddenly made tons of new Inhuman characters while there was an editorial moratorium on creating any new characters in X-Men books. The parallels between young persecuted newly-powered Inhumans at odds with regular people was clearly stealing the X-Men's shtick. Again, Marvel positioning itself as an IP company, trying to focus on properties it controlled the full rights to.

So maybe I don't like the Inhumans because I've never read a good Inhumans story (honestly, I don't even know anyone that can name one). And maybe it's because from the bottom of my soul, I resent them being the sad poor substitute that keep Marvel from giving them X-Men the prominence the franchise has earned rather than pushing d-list characters down our throats.

There were lots of articles about this, some just rumor, some well-documented, and a shitload of circumstantial evidence. YMMV:

The art from that article (Extrordinary X-Men by nobody and his third cousin) looks like it was lifted from a 90's X-Men book. But that's what you get when they take the top creators off the x-books. We went from Bendis and Immonen doing a top tier All-New X-Men book to Dennis Hopeless and Mark Bagley. The talent level dropped 78%, so yeah, it won't be a shock when they aren't good and don't sell well. It's somewhat self-fulfilling.

Is it me, or are they kind of rehashing the Legacy virus?

Oh, very much so. Seems like every decade needs a way to thin the mutant population. Legacy Virus, the destruction of Genosha, House of M "No More Mutants", etc.

It's tough to push the persecuted minority angle when there are a crapton of you in mainstream society. Expand - Contract. Every so often they need the X-Men to feel on the brink of extinction so they can get "proactive" and take the fight to the bad guys.

It's tough to read these stories for 30+ years and not get a little jaded. It's cool when it's all fresh, but after a while, you get the "been there, done that" vibe.

"Dennis Hopeless "? Seriously? That's his name? "Hi, I'm Mr. Hopeless."

And I have to agree, after all these years you'd think society would have gone one way or another with the mutants...either excepting them completely, or waging all out war with them.

Except the whole thing with ongoing comics in general is "the illusion of change". They don't want to actually radically alter the characters or worlds. They want the illusion of change, the appearance of character progression, and the constant threat of "things will never be the same".

But in the end, it is always the same. The toys get broken and then eventually put back together neatly for the next writer. And if things get too far out of hand, they conveniently ignore things that came before that are inconvenient (Pete and MJ's baby, Wolf Cap, Zero Hour, etc) or have a world altering reset (Crisis, Flashpoint, Mephisto magic, or Secret Wars) to get everything back the way it "should" be.

So the mutants will never reach a resolution with the rest of society, or they'll make progress that will quickly be ignored or retconned so they can be perpetually "hated and feared" by the general populace. It's kind of their thing.

Pretty much. To add to the rather substandard roster, these are 8-figure cases. Unless you catch them quick at retail you won't be collecting' em all without online ordering.

I kind of like Captain Marvel and Spider-Man Noir, but they aren't $13 figures.

Black Panther looks like a good basic buck for a custom, but that's the worst 8-figure lineup I can recall in a very long time. I guess I could use a Yondu head for a Bonebreaker custom. Spidey Noir looks like a great start for a Rocketeer custom, if one were so inclined (I'm not).

When is the punk Rogue wave coming out?

Ha! They'd deserve that. We're just under a month from Toy Fair, I'm sure she'll be there with the little placard telling us when we might see her in four stores in the western part of Idaho.

Pretty sure it's WWII Capt. A. They could have just as easily used Nick Fury's buck for the trench coat look.

Kaine Scarlet Spider is the only one of that whole bunch that I really want to own.

I know marvel/hasbro wants to push Avengers down our throats, but these really need to be born naturally out of demand and good stories, not from some corporate mandate to put out characters no one gives two shakes about, simply because that's who they have the movie rights for.

Hmmm, I feel I need to find some use for Ulik. Something to go along with the H.A.C.K.s figures.

Starting with a new head and maybe ball-jointing the wrists. I'm a sucker for caestūs.

Kitty and Phoenix heads are gonna be great if they get shrunken. Fuck, I wish the goddamn H.A.C.K.s would ship already.
