    Vietnam Mech Team Update

Ah, got it. Thanks. I'll be rolling along with my customs, but I'll be gone for most of June. The only good thing about being a Federal employee and getting furloughed is that I'll have every Friday to work on models.

    Vietnam Mech Team Update

Thanks gentlemen. I'm glad Provost approves. What's wrong with the bunny? I actually had to get the customs done by a guy who usually does custom police decals for 1:18 cars. He's expensive as hell, but easier to get in touch with than the handful of guys with Alps printers. The good...

    Vietnam Mech Team Update

Now for the M-48's. I waited more than a month to get the custom decals in, but I'm very pleased with how they came out. Tank Section I've seen only a couple of M-48 customs. If anyone is interested, I can sell more sets of these decals. The ones shown are for 1-69...

    Vietnam Mech Team Update

The first of the two M-113's is largely done. I need to install antennae and work on some more of the stowage. Eventually I'll get around to the figures...

    M3 / M16 MGMC Thread

I can get the whole half-track and give the vehicle to my son while keeping the quad .50 for myself for less than I can get the trailer... http://www.ww2toys.net/US-WWII-M16A1-Anti-Aircraft-Halftrack-118-Scale-V48527.htm...

    M3 / M16 MGMC Thread

Which one has the most accurate Quad .50? I've been considering getting one of these, but I only want the Quad .50 mount and not the truck. If I ever get around to doing a 1:18 Vietnam firebase, it'd be a very cool addition.

    21st Century Toys M113

I agree - the R/C version is a drag. There's not cargo compartment and there isn't even a space in the cupola for a TC. It's a fun toy idea for kids, but hard core R/C'ers won't go for it (of which I am not) unless they want to spend a ton of time upgrading it.

    21st Century Toys M113

I paid more than I'd like to admit for mine. It makes me want to pull my hair out that these were sitting on clearance shelves in Wal-Mart for $30. But, when these were out I was in Iraq and I definitely WAS NOT into 1:18. So be it.

BTW Tiger, that's an interesting tuber you have in your profile photo.

M-113A1 with Cupola (WIP - NEW PICS)

That sounds like a great deal of expense, but if he got it back when they were $30 at Wal-Mart, then I suppose it's a cool project. He must have used one of the R/C ones if it blew smoke and played music. Cool idea. I'll be happy once I have these things weathered. Then I can start...

M-113A1 with Cupola (WIP - NEW PICS)

The only molding compound I know well from my 1:35 experience is Miliput, so I set to work forming a cupola. It was a pain in the ass. I basically pushed a u-shaped blob into the commander's hatch and formed it around the vision blocks. Once dry, I formed it with a dremel. The first time, I...

M-113A1 with Cupola (WIP - NEW PICS)

Here is the moment I've been waiting for! Necessity is definitely the mother of invention. When I joined SSHQ last fall in the midst of my wild "I want to customize 1:18" hair, I saw Pickel's ACAV cupola's from back in 2005. Since he wasn't available, I decided to look into doing my own...

    M-48A3 WIP

Ewok, it's a good thing that the M-48's still sell for $50. If that was a 21st Cobra going up in smoke, it'd be another matter...

    M-48A3 WIP

Thanks gentlemen. I always thought of the original molded green as being more of the "plastic army man green" rather than USMC green. More to follow!

Some new ones after a day's work. A little bit of stowage is included as a preview.

    M-48A3 WIP

Here is one of the M-48's. It's largely done until I get the decals and stowage. I do need to use K-Tiger's searchlight cover technique. Once I get the decals, I'll weather and add stowage. Photos of stowage will be forthcoming.

21st/JSI Huey owners, get in here.

PH, if you do a "D" I'll be first in line. I don't particularly care if there are slight irregularities in blade and tail length, although I think extending the skids is unavoidable. Whatever you decide to do, I'll be on board. Say the word and I'll buy a JSI Huey for the sacrifice!
