    Observations about scale 🧐

Damn, being born in late '74, I thought I was about the oldest one around here! (aside from K-T, who I always assumed was older). So when did you get into the adult collecting game? I naturally assume most of us here have a similar story, growing up in the 80's and enjoying the fruits of...

    G.I. Joe Classified Series (1:12)

Well, they never had a set release date like the other wave, so I don't know that I ever had an expectation about which would come first. Definitely haven't seen any in the wild. Most of the people I've seen that have them got them first from Amazon and Pulse. Of course, mine were ordered...

    Observations about scale 🧐

Agreed. I was seven in '82 when Joe debuted and it hit me like a lightning bolt. TL;DR Our tiny town (or entire county) didn't have any toy stores, but the local grocery store expanded in late '81/early '82 to include housewares and had 2-3 isles of toys, pretty novel back then. Being a...

    Takara Transformers

Good call! I've got an A-Team van too... and a Bandit Trans-Am, an Eleanor mustang, mutable Batmobiles... I agree, a drive-in dio would be sweet! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

    Takara Transformers

I have been down that rabbit hole, and it's challenging. I have acquired in 1:18 scale : - Lambo Countach x2 (red and yellow) - VW Bug (yellow) - Porsche 924 Turbo (red) - Porsche 935 (Martini livery) - '80's Trans Am (red) - Datsun 280z x2 (silver and white) (need to paint the black and add...

Oh, I thought you were looking for a 1:18th scale robot... but you wanted the truck. My bad!

There's only one prime I know of that scales with 4" figures... MAS-01, which someone here (pcsguy88 ?) just recently acquired. Definitely doesn't transform. There were some larger movie Primes, but I don't think any of them ever got THAT big.

    Observations about scale 🧐

Those Forever Clever things are microscopic and sad. The "skystriker" has 100 pcs, and the brick pilot doesn't even fit in it. They make Kre-O sets look like Mega Call of Duty by comparison.

    Observations about scale 🧐

That's how I feel about 12"+ stuff. Too much size and cost, and it doesn't increase my enjoyment of said character or property. I'm sure Sideshow / Hot Toys figures are unmatched in detail and realism... I just don't care. I like 6" stuff to display simply because I have a ton of bookshelves...

    Observations about scale 🧐

SW destroyed 8" & 12" stuff because it added the possibility of reasonably sized vehicles and playsets, which were as iconic as the figures themselves in some cases. Then Joe added all the articulation anyone could possibly ask for at any scale in 1982 and made SW look like trash. Had we...

    Observations about scale 🧐

My kids were not "action figure" kids like we were growing up, despite all my subtle efforts, but they did play with them some. Our house has a plethora of 4" and 6" figures, and the times they did play with them, the 4" definitely got more attention. I think the reasons are varied though...

    G.I. Joe Classified Series (1:12)

It wasn't that I didn't like the camo pants... I didn't like that they were brown. The black/green comic version of Flint was always better than the shit brown 'toon version, and my hybrid toy was as close as I could get to this: The Stealth Fighter was badass. I still have mine, largely...

    G.I. Joe Classified Series (1:12)

I had a TF Duke back in the day just because I'd broken the crotch on my regular duke, but I never liked the figure. His hair color swap was even more inexplicable than Hawk's. And I bought a TF Flint just because I liked the green pants. I swapped the green pants onto the black torso as a...

    G.I. Joe Classified Series (1:12)

New cryptic Classified computer listings: -TF Duke (Target) with vehicle (just my guess, maybe a TF RAM but probably a tiger force version of the baroness venom cycle since TF/PP saw most of the vehicles swap teams.) -Trooper builder 2-pack (assumed to be like the ML and SW ones, Viper + Viper...

    G.I. Joe Classified Series (1:12)

But just like the previous retro line, they'll get bored of it (or run out of already-produced characters to repaint) long before they reach any kind of critical mass for a proper MOC display.

Plus, the retro lines usually only go for one or two waves, then they change the card deco or discontinue altogether. While some people really go nuts for them, I find them to be a waste unless I really like the classic deco. I mean, it'll be good to get a motorcycle-less Baroness for those...

    G.I. Joe Classified Series (1:12)

The BATs and AVs are trickling in, as retailers get a few at a time from the shipping logjam. Hasbro swears there are PLENTY of them, so no need to hoard or pay scalpers, just be patient. I ordered from both BBTS and Dorkside, and the Pulse still has them available to order too. But they'll...

    G.I. Joe Classified Series (1:12)

Yeah, there have been rumors swirling around for weeks about new WM 6" Retro Joes. Since the 4" retro line is on hiatus b/c of the o-ring revolution, WM now appears to be getting classified figures on retro cardbacks. If you follow SW Black or Marvel Legends, this is absolutely par for the...

Anybody still collecting SW on here?

These do absolutely nothing for me. Why are these popular? What's the appeal? I wouldn't want x-mas themed TFs or Joes either. Imagine, Optimus Prime with antlers or candy cane cobra commander... it just feels wrong. I like my toys to stay in their lane.
