It turns out Badcat toys has a contact whose currently in China right now gathering more intel on the 1:18 SBD.

I'd honestly like one, if nothing more to hang next to my F4... BUT... I know cost is going to be up there. It looks very, very nice so far though.

Just came across this information today by accident. Not sure if this is true or not but it seems HobbyBoss is planing on constructing a 1:18 static model of the SBD Dauntless. I wonder if they are who Merit is currently working with on this particular project. The picture below is supposedly from a HobbyBoss 2012-2013 catalog on future releases.

holy crap, the detail looks great! the speed that they are getting this done may catch up to the A-10!

(This sarcasm means this plane that came out of nowhere is getting done faster than the plane that has been "in the works" for years. didn't want to sound like this wasn't getting done)

If you right click on them and select view image they will show up much larger on screen. Viewing the images after saving them to your desktop will also work as well.

Btw, I just noticed that the paint scheme in those recent photos are of the Battle of Midway. The pilot had me so destracted there for a moment that I almost missed that.
