Any interest in a 1:18 Predator UAV from Pickelhaube

Talking with Pickel, he could make one for fairly cheap - $100 if multiple kits are made. I can't afford the one time build price so I'm throwing this out there to see if anyone else would want one.

Pickel - please feel free to chime in regarding your thoughts / time frame for delivery.

That would be pretty sweet, but it depends on the end price and how hard it would be to put together.

Behind a camera watching you!
I've been using soundwave. How big would a 1:18 scale one be.

Depends...would it be an A or B model?...would it include a weapons cache and would it include the pilot/gamer and cockpit :D

The B model is bigger and sexier IMO and might be worth it...not so much the A model...

Also, have you looked into the RC kits?...they have a small camera mounted up front AND can actually fly..only issue is I don't know the scale...you can research them if you want and find out dimensions and compare that to the real thing and see what scale they fall into...I don't feel like doing that math

What about the one coming with the Retaliation Ultimate Duke? That's a 1/10 price. Just gotta wait for it to come out.

That thing would pass as a small drone, in the vein of the RQ-11.

What everyone here is referring to would likely be the MQ-9 Reaper. It has quite a substantial foot print. The wing span would scale out at about 43".

I posted a interest post on Small Scale and there was not a lot of interest.

This would be a very simple mod/build .

There is so much on my plate with the K2 and A-10 in the near future.

If there is true interest in this project I could possibly fit it in.

IF there was true interest.

Holy crap that thread was in 2009!

The Drones have definitely become more important and popular since then. No one can make their Obama custom without one!

I'd like to see a concept/mock-up for an armed version.

Yeah, I would bite if the price was reasonable in accordance with my wallet. lol MQ-9 Reaper looks like a scaled down A-10 to me.

1:18 scale (according to Wiki) MQ-9 Reaper

Length: 24"
Wingspan: 43.7"
Height: 7.89"

1:18 scale (according to Wiki) MQ-1B Predator

Length: 18"
Wingspan: 32.39"
Height: 4.5"

Pretty big after running those number through.

If it looked like this and enough people signed up to get this under $100, how many people would we need to commit to green light the project?

http://www.silentthundermodels.com/special/MQ-1B_predator.html

Well I usually make a mod if I have 10 people to sign up.

But this will be a full build so I would need a minimum of 15 guys.

Be advised that would be $100 for a kit not built up and painted as in the pic.

I usually offer my fully built models for double the price of the kit.

Actually, Pickel, his are correct (or at least closer, according to wikipedia). Unless you're using a different source for the dimensions?

Wikipedia has for the MQ-1B Predator:
Length: 27 ft (8.22 m)
Wingspan: 48.7 ft (14.8 m);
Height: 6.9 ft (2.1 m)

27 feet = 324 inches (27x12). 324 inches / 18 = 18".
48.7 feet = 584.4 inches (48.7x12). 584.4 inches / 18 = 32.5".
6.9 feet = 82.8 inches 6.9x82.8). 82.8 inches / 18 = 4.6".

I used Beevision measurements that he posted.

He stated a 24 feet length .

So 24 x 12=288 288 divided by 18 = 16

and so on.

Read it again - he stated a 24 inch wingspan for one type of drone and 18 for the other.

Jesus !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beevsion I am sorry I ever corrected you.

Fogger if this thing ever gets built I will come directly to you for the measurements.

I am glad you are on top of everything.

Shit man, if I knew you were going to freak out I'd have let you build it wrong.

Believe me when I tell you that I do not go to Wikipedia for measurements on my builds.

I try to get technical drawings for their measurements as well as getting a scale model to physically measure off of.

But on a whole because of the simplicity of this aircraft and the strait lines of the wing this should be an easy build.

Of course a lot more guys would have to come on board and so far it looks like only 3 guys 2 maybes and a ping pong match with Fogger .

And damn I was happy seeing the smaller measurements given the space I would have for it...

15 people is a stretch. Maybe ill start looking at the RC kits like Eddie suggested.

Yeah, I'm terrible at math. I just randomly picked Wiki since it was the first link that came up on Google and then used a scaling calculator on another site to get the numbers. If I was wrong I would've of just passed the blame over to Jimbob Wan's conversion calculator. I'm really just the messenger in all this. lol
