A few days ago I picked up the Target Exclusive Concept Series Arctic Assault Captain America vs. Cosmic Fire Red Skull 2 pack on clearance. Whew! what a long title eh? Target had it on a 50% clearance end cap, although it was really only 30% off. I got it price matched
Now I'm a huge fan of Captain America, I love the character and really enjoyed the movie. So far I have passed on most of the figures. I still plan on getting a Winter Soldier, Crossbones and some Hydra Soldiers. The only figure that I had picked up before this exclusive 2 pack was the single carded Red Skull. You can read his review here: http://forums.fighting118th.com/showthread.php?t=820
Lets start with the Cap figure. At first glance, it's hideous! After opening it up and examining the figure, it's not that bad. My figure has excellent paint applications. His head is painted very well and moves side to side and up and down. The details on the figure really stand out. His stars on his arms and of course the big one on his chest. The clips on his back holding his armor in place are very well done and the camouflage pattern on his legs are awesome. Cap comes with a pistol that fits perfectly in his holster on his right leg. He also comes with a white helmet and his trademark Shield. The pistol fits in both hands but looks better in his right hand. His shield looks great in both hands.
Now onto the reason I got the 2 pack, Red Skull. If you read my original review on the single carded Red Skull, then you know I'm a huge fan of this figure. The Target exclusive Red Skull is a direct repaint. Instead of going over why I like the figure so much, I'll just talk about the differences between the two. The first thing I noticed is his head. The 2 pack has a lighter tone and has his teeth gritted together. I like this head better. After looking at the figure further, his suit stands out much more then the single version. His suit is now light blue with red and black highlights. His collar is now red and black and he has black patches with red stripes on his arms. His belt buckle is now gold instead of silver. He now is wearing black gloves and black pants. Another new feature that really stands out is the shiny glossy paint that he has on his high boots. Overall, I love all the new paint apps on this figure except I prefer him to not wear gloves. He comes with a Red Cosmic Cube that fits in his left hand and a gun that fits perfectly in his right hand.
Overall I'm happy with my purchase. Is this a must have? If you have already bought the Single Carded Red Skull, No! However if you hadn't or if your not happy with your Red Skull, then yes it is, especially on clearance. The Cap figure isn't as bad as it looks and will most likely be a throw away or fodder figure for most people. However I don't have any Cap figure yet and will try and make some use for him.
