What do you all think about customs based on one's own persona?

I ask because I discovered last night that the DG Duke head is a pretty good match for me if I alter the hair style and color a bit.

I don't have an opinion one way or another, though they're kind of dorky at times. I reckon it depends on the execution.

I made one years ago for my wife holding a ring I got for her for Valentines day...she loved it!...even showed her friends which I wish she wouldn't have...

I made it in civi style clothes...I need to make a new one...

You know, I had one planned, but it was so long ago that my "favorite shirt" that I was planning on making it from has changed (it wore out, plus my fat ass outgrew it, if we're being 100% transparent here).

Also, so many new parts have come out, that I've basically just said "fuck it."

My biggest hold-up was figuring out what head to use that looked like me, short of having someone custom-sculpt one. I can't use an existing Joe one because it's too obvious, so that leaves me with Star Wars or another 1:18 scale line that I don't much collect. So, that sort of limits me, too.

I'll likely end up doing it one day, I just keep procrastinating because I know I'll be super picky about it, and not happy with it even when I finish it.

And yes, KT, I think it's super dorky. But if you have so many customs of other tiny men, you may as well make one of yourself as an honorary Joe. Also, mine won't be a badass or anything. He'll be some schlub with a laptop or something silly.

I agree with this, we're all dorky man-children that play with little toys... might as well embrace it and join the toys as little man-child action figures, lol.

Here's a WIP of one I made for a friend's Hoth Diorama. Using my Slayer sculpted head. I still want to get more of these, but have a hard time paying $6 for a small version of my head, lol.

And no.. my ears are not that big... One thing I hate about the sculpt.
