For those interested in learning 3D modeling for printing

Shapeways has paired up with skill share to teach an online beginner's course and I believe it's free. The software needs aren't bad since you can find freeware that will work just fine.

Very cool. There's a new place opening up near my work that is basically a workshop for folks who want to play with welding equipment, carpentry / wood carving, stone carving and from their website I believe they have 3D printing as well.
