Legendary comic book artist Herb Trimpe has passed away, age 75. Known as a co-creator of Wolverine, the guy worked on nearly every major character at some point. I would guess that most of us here got to know his work through early issues of the original Marvel GIJoe series, and he penciled every page of all 28 issues of Special Missions.
I have nearly 100 pages of original comic art by him, as he was immensely talented. In interviews, he talked about getting the Joe gig because he wanted to draw tanks and jets (lots of artists hated drawing vehicles), but he ended up spending all his time drawing the massive cast of characters. Very humble, very sincere. He was one of the good guys and will be sorely missed.
