I never had the Brazil set as a kid, however when the Club revealed that they were doing a Mission Brazil set, I was stoked. I went through some back stabbing and drama trying to get my set. Well after paying over double what I was expecting too and getting screwed out of another $250, I finally have my set! Most of the cool figures already got a review and lets be honest, no chance in hell I could have done as good a review as Rex anyway. So I will do my best to complete some reviews on the remaining Joes and the Cobras over the next few weeks.

Mainframe is the least sexy figure of the set. He is a direct repaint of the Dataframe figure that we got in the 25th line that was packaged with Beachhead. Overall the figure captures the character very well. Mainframe is a bit older then the average Joe and they do there best to capture that in the head sculpt but it just comes out wrong. His face is too grumpy and a bit mangled. I will say that my club figure's face looks better then my comic pack version. The comic pack has more detail on his shirt and bandolier but hey, it's club figure, what do you expect? The main issue I have with the figure is his left hand. He has this open handed claw thing going on and the hand is worthless and a waste.

The computer specialist comes with a rifle, knife, portable computer with stands, 2 peg stand and a filecard. It would have been nice to have a removable helmet but no dice. His head can move left to right but has zero up and down movement. His arms and legs have a good range of motion and he can swivel at the chest. They did a fantastic job with the paint. My Mainframe doesn't have a single blemish, something I can't say for my Brazil Dial Tone :(

Overall, I'm satisfied with this figure. He's not the highlight of the set and can't hold a candle to Wet Suit or Claymore but he needed to be in the set and for what they had to work with, they did a good job.

Nice review, thanks!

No matter which version of this figure I look at, I cannot get past the horrid computer. I know it's "vintage" but for pete's sake, it has 8" floppy drives. Those went out in 1987. I'm not saying they should give him a Lenovo laptop per se, but something more modern or even futuristic-looking would seem far more appropriate. But for the tech guy to lug around a suitcase computer the size of a small european car, it's inexcusable in 2011. Why not give him a musket as his weapon while they are at it?

If PTE, SDS, Brokenarrow, etc can all make a laptop accessory, it seems hasbro could too. I don't think anyone would have cried foul if they had gone non-vintage with his accessories. It just makes the figure look sad and pitiful, like he couldn't afford an upgrade in 25 years.

Laptops came with 2 or 3 RoC figures, so they have a mold for it, they just chose not to make it available to the GIJCC or CIJCC didn't bother to ask or were playing slaves to fanboy nostalgia.

Well, they included the suitcase Tandy x86 with the comic pack figure too, so clearly it was more fanboy service than anything else. And normally, I'm all about the nostalgic look as far as figure names and deco go... but if they are really meant to be toys, ugh... maybe hasbro thinks kids don't even know what a floppy drive is, so it must be some new cool high-tech slot on the machine... If only he'd come with a backpack full of futuristic vacuum tubes.

I'm pretty sure the Tele-Viper in the SMB:2 set had the black laptop/mission case that originally came with Resolute Destro (and recently with the POC Hawk), so the mold was definitely available at the time.

I don't mind the goofy old computer, although it's odd that he has a fucking iPod molded on his webgear yet he's lugging around a Samsonite computer...

Thanks for the review, MW. We'll eventually get all the SMB:2 guys reviewed!

I think they do, to be honest the only Cobra that I even unbagged was Steel Cobra. I will check it out tomorrow sometime. I was going to do the Covergirl review last night but I found a Red Skull and was too excited about that figure.

And DAMN! If carded DT isn't $350 on eBay right now, with loose, bagged going for $115?!

Holy Shit!!!

I should have scalped the shit out of you guys :D

Well that's government efficiency for you. :D
I don't mind the over-size computer. As others have said there is the other laptops that are just as easy to give him. I guess I just don't get that aggravated over accessory choices since Marauder John is around. ;)
Mainframe's head is disappointing because they decided to use a sculpted helmet. If they would have had a removable helmet I'm sure it would have been a huge improvement.
Hmmm one would think SMB Dial-Tone would have the tanned skin instead of the original.

A different head sculpt would have been better. Thats funny about the tan skin, didn't notice it until now.
