Name: McElrath, Dewitt J. “Deweyâ€￾
Rank/Grade: SSG/E-6
SSN: XXX-XX-8421
MOS: 11B/18B
POB: Virginia Beach, VA
DOB: 10/27/1988

SSG “Deweyâ€￾ McElrath is equipped specifically for a short-duration, night extraction mission. His SCAR 17, chambered in 7.62x51, can punch through most unarmored vehicle skins and targets in cover, while the under-slung M203 grenade launcher can deal with heavier-armored targets. SSG McElrath carries two smoke grenades for marking the extraction LZ, as well as an additional medical pouch to provide first aide. SSG McElrath’s AN/PSQ NODs allow a wider field of vision than the usual monocular or double tube devices

Figure recipe:

The first two pictures are what I started out with- the POC Duke head w/ROC Jungle Ripcord body- I intended on sculpting a low-pro armor carrier over the futuristic armor. I got about halfway with that before I realized I wouldn't finish the sculpting in time. As a result, I went with the following:

POC Duke Head
Mouse body/arms/lower legs
POC Commando Snake Eyes thigh
POC Cobra trooper MTV w/Mouse SCAR 17 mag pouches
Various pouches
Marauder SCAR 17 w/M203

Tamiya paints applied w/Iwata neo airbrush
washes/drybrush w/Vallejo paints
American flag patch- 1/72 decal from random kit

Thanks all!

I like seeing the evolution of it. That's always my favorite part of customizing.

Shouldn't that patch be subdued?

I thought of that, but my hand's not that steady. Plus I was running low on time, although if I searched my models stash I probably had at least one grey one somewhere. Oh well, next time I'll manage time a little better.

Other than the helmet/NVG combo (It looks really big) I dig it. Kind of wish I had thrown something together to see it get killed for bullshit reasons.

Mine would have probably stumbled upon a booby-trapped stash of man-on-camel erotica. What the fuck? What kind of pervert gets *click*

Shit.

Thank you. I know what you're saying about the NVG- it was the only multi-tube NOD I had in my parts bin. Although, from what I've seen, the newer models are rather ungainly. So much so that they have to have a counter-weight in the back, or a rather elaborate chin rig.

As far as I've seen they're best suited for helicopter crews. i sure as shit wouldn't want to hump one around on my head.

It's not awesome, even with just the AN/PVS-14s. If you don't have your kevlar cinched down the stupid thing will pull the front of it down. I was always jealous of the team leaders who had the infared rifle scopes. It's not nearly as wonky.

The AN/PAS-13s? Those things look like they work nicely.

I'd say Marauder needs to do one, but we know they're adverse to any advice not given by a HTer.

Midget,
We used to have the AN/PVS-6 and the -9(4949) on our chopper helmets. I always was fond of those but they are probably a bit dated now.

I think the aircraft helmets were a little bit more NVG friendly. My kevlar just wasn't designed to have the added weight on the front. And the cinch-down strap-attachment method never really kept it all that stable. I think the newer helmets were designed with NODs in mind, so they probably hold them up a bit better.
