You know how Star Wars and Star Trek have novels? I think this would be new and interesting way for JOE get new fans, to hire somebody to write some novels based on the JOE mythos. It does't necessarily have to be ARAH either, but just take some familiar characters and so something different with them and have the JOEs fight a threat. Another angle is to possibly update ARAH?

They would need to be above average writing for this to work. The reason being is because everyone has their own view on GI Joe. Unlike Star Wars and Star Trek there is no set continuity or universe. Since there is no canon to work with every novel would basically be a fanfic which means it would need to be excellent to really gain a following.

For sure...did you ever read the Tales from the Cobra Wars short stories? Those were good as are the Fan Fiction Tales from Castle Destro...

From a business stand point, Hasbro should be licensing as many franchises that they own as possible, and reaping in as much royalty revenue as possible. Hasbro is going to pay Disney a billion dollars just to keep making sub par, mediocre (or down right crappy) Star Wars and Marvel figures for a few more years. Knowing Hasbro, they won't make any smart decisions.

Back in the 80s it took 3-4 years to relaunch GI Joe making the brand we know as ARAH today.

Part of that process was licencing out the product to anyone willing to pay which is how we got GI Joe HO Tyco Trains, Breaker's walkie talkie backpack, GI Joe which way novels & the most famous the Marvel comics. Which they used to bend the broadcast rules, (You could not advertise GI Joe toys during GI Joe, but you could run a commerical for the GI Joe Marvel Comics. Joe & transformers were the first comics ever to be a commercial)

I say Hasbro put a long term plan in plan (IMO I would love to see a continuation of the renagades storyline, as that seemed to have a multi year plan.) & could easily be built appone, (Renagades could even be packaged togeather with a new show to get X number of shows in a prime TV spot.)
