Latest wave of ReAction+ o-rings announced today... Pythona, Big Lob, Destro (arctic), Snake-Eyes v2 (in arctic parka). They look ok, about like all the others, but the big kicker is S7 jacking up the price to $25. They must be making them in the highest tariff place on earth.

The S7 website has them in stock already, but if you order through them, the set of four is $100 + shipping + tax = $120. I draw the line at paying $30/ea for 3.75" o-ring figures. Maybe Amazon will carry them with free shipping, and maybe (hopefully) at the same price point as previous waves. But I'm going to wait and see. None of those four is a must-have, although Pythona is certainly a glaring hole in the o-ring collection. She'll be the HTF one of the wave.

Yeah, the pricing is rough, especially since they jumped from $20 to $25/ea.

I pick and choose, and even at that, I wait for DD to get them in stock and use their bi-weekly 10-15% off coupons. Usually saves me nearly $4 per figure.

The sculpts are a little on the goofy side, but they mesh with vintage ARAH o-rings pretty well. And they do try hard to get the toon/comic decos reasonably accurate. I appreciate the effort, even if their pricing is painful.

Where you least expect it
The one good thing about this line, is that it’s doing something the GI Joe club promised but didn’t really deliver on.

Unique things from the series that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. Instead we got the 4th/5th wave of Hasbro figures that most of the time would have sold just fine at retail, but were locked behind a paywall that wasn’t worth the entry fee.

Yeah, I fully expect that there is no way we get classified Fatal Fluffies without S7 doing it first. I mean, who else was going to produce the blind woodsman with sled dogs or Ramar from the MASS mini? Who was going to make the terracotta warriors from the Pyramid of Darkness?

Honestly, I just wish they'd retool some of those older 5 PoA sets in o-ring form. I'll take the Cobra escape set with old lady CoCo, hardhat destro, and nurse baroness... if they have proper joints. I'll take PoD Shipwreck and SE disguised as cube workers... with real articulation. I'll take them all if they aren't Kenner wannabes.

That's why I continue to support this line despite the eye-watering pricetag. It's the only way we're getting a lot of this stuff, so I can somewhat justify paying boutique prices.

New Wave arrived today...

The SNAKEs are awesome and have the rock covering on the back like in the MASS crystal mines. They also have knee joints and mild elbow bends, so they're not nearly as static as the original... but they don't fit figures on the inside. They're just the robot-only model ;)

And next wave leaked... (along with a lame wave of chrome-accented repaints)

They're really leaning into the arctic thing for the 40th Anniv of the movie. We've gotten CoCo, Destro, Baroness, SE, Scarlett, and Shipwreck in winter coats, and future releases have Mindbender, Gung-Ho, and the twins. Honestly, S7 is just crazy enough to sell us a B.E.T. at some point.

And I'm happy about comic-Stalker too. Anytime we get more Marvel decos, it's a win.

Do you have a feel for the popularity of this line? They certainly seem to be in better shape than the expensive cartoon line was.

I think that the consensus is that they're generally well-received, but I don't know what kind of volume they're doing. Like everything from S7, it feels overpriced, even in the face of $30 classified, but they definitely scratch that o-ring itch. But at least they don't suffer from the problem of the Ultimates line that was twice as expensive as JC and had less articulation. All it had going for it was superbly good sunbow sculpts/decos and great episode-specific accessories.

No one is happy about the price point, but when they're offering cool stuff from the cartoon and comics that is likely to never get made by anyone else, it's the kind of thing where you grimace and pull the trigger anyway despite the boutique-figure pricing.

I don't expect RA+ to last forever, but they've at least made enough stuff to not be rando orphan figures. You can really have a non-trivial S7 collection or add them to the classic o-rings without being too out of place. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
