How can you add 20 tons and tracks and still get $18 per mile? Do the soldiers roll it Flintstone style?

It more or less makes it an American BMP.

Or an extended cab M113.

I don't fully understand the point of making it a tracked vehicle.

GD attempting to get more taxpayer dollars for a system we don't really need.

A lot of people were arguing that the wheeled Stryker was the wrong solution back when it came about. Tracks perform significantly better in many environments and offer much better turning capability. But, again, the Army powers that be chose the wheeled Stryker, so why go back now?

That reminds me, didn't they put a big ass cannon on one of the Strykers variants? It sounds like they've done it again!

Stryker AGS is the heavy hitter variant of the Stryker Brigade. Is it a worthwhile piece of equipment? Jury is out, but it would be a better option than just .50 cals, if they were to come into contact with enemy armor (while escaping hopefully) or need to bust a dug in enemy.

Nothing really wrong with the gun, especially considering what it might actually get to kill for the foreseeable future. There's always the mortar carrier variant...

The Stryker is essentially a combat taxi. It works great when you're fighting in an AO with infrastructure to get troops to combat quickly, but it's nigh useless in the 'stan.

Does the 105 mm cannon interfere with the Strykers ability to carry troops?
