The paint is pretty decent, but it is applied sparingly, as most parts of the figures are cast in the color they are supposed to be in, but there’s some nice detailing with the buckles, rank and branch insignias, and detailing in the face. I did find out that the paint uses either did not bond well to the plastic, or was not sealed properly, as I was able to scrape my thumbnail lightly over a painted surface and it scratched up VERY easily.
This isn’t a huge ordeal, and like the loose joints, perhaps mine are the exception and not the rule. That said, it’s still a bit of a bummer to find out the resilience of the paint isn’t likely to last.
Some of the other figures in this line are more loaded down with accessories, but the Commander still gets a good bunch of toys to use in battle. For starters, he has a removable officer’s cap. There’s also a pair of binoculars, his MP40, P08 Luger, and a couple stick grenades. A big plus is that each figure comes with a ground colored stand. While it’s not a huge loadout, it’s perfect for this commanding officer, keeping him mobile while his subordinates do the heavy fighting.
