Hasbro GI Joe Q&A answers – final round of 2011

Well, 2011 is winding down and so has this year’s Q&A segment. Below is the answers we got for the final round. Hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday!

1) Did the popularity of the 2010 and 2011 SDCC exclusives have any influence on the upcoming 7 packs and if not, what did?

Answer: This was definitely a consideration when it came to the early conception of these two 7-packs.

2) In the making of GI Joe movies, do the producers have to follow a design Hasbro has in mind or do they have creative freedom with characters?

Answer: Working with movie producers has been a really fun, collaborative process. Everyone puts ideas on the table and the best ideas make it into the movie and the product. The goal is to balance the desire to stay true to the heritage of the brand while also keeping the brand relevant and fresh for today’s audience.

3) Was the lack of paint applications on the 30th anniversary Iron Grenadier done as a variation or cost cutting?

Answer: Partially. This was also done to create a separate version of this soldier, in case kids or collectors were creating an army.

About Anthony Spatucci

I was brought into collecting when the GI Joe 25th anniversary came out. After dealing with repaints and sub par vehicles I started searching around for something a little better. A friend turned me onto the fighting 118th and I started moving towards a more realistic "verse" for my figures. After seeing a few dioramas from members on the site I got the bug for them. There is a certain quality of person that contributes to the site and that is what has kept me coming back. Everyone is honest about what your work can have better and really helps you to get the best out of yourself. I am MAJOR BLOOD on the site.
