The Boys, volume 1: The Name of the Game
Written by Garth Ennis, art by Darick Robertson, published by Dynamite (originally Wildstorm)
Overview
It’s probably safe to say that Garth Ennis hates superheroes.
The Boys is set in a post-9/11 world where superheroes exist, but they are, for the most part, reckless and far too wrapped up in their own celebrity. The Boys are a C.I.A. sponsored (sort of, anyway) black ops group tasked with monitoring the super-powered community.
Art
Darick Robertson handles the art chores – it’s a bit rough at times, but then the comic itself is not meant to be the clean, straightforward superhero comic that you might get from DC or Marvel.
