Oktober Guard 2012 GIJCC review

The originals:
Daina:

Hat-thing doesn't fit all that well. That's what the SDS version is for, I guess.

This is what her backpack looked like coming out of the bag. Oops.

"Why did I have to come with this? WHY?"

She looks much better with the Marauder version, in my opinion.

Also included is her filecard and other crap.

Look, Joe stands:

I didn't have Daina's earlier figure to make comparisons.

Colonel Brekhov:

Web gear is a bit messy in how it fits on his back:

I shoot you, older version!

Couldn't get them both to stay focused, so here's some blurry comparison shots of the old to the new:

Horror Show:

I don't mind how his jacket looks nearly as much as I thought I might, but I'm not wild about his knees:

The kneepads and lower thigh don't mesh well.
The one downside to the jacket is that he has this:

and came with nothing to put there.

"I come with German weapon!"

Hasbro RPG:

Marauder RPG:

"Look, tiny older me!"*

*height difference may be exaggerated slightly due tot he fact that the newer figure is on a stand and the older is not

Schrage:

Man, all of my pictures of Schrage came out blurry, and I didn't notice until now.

OMIGOD THE EARTH IS MOVING

Okay, Schrage review kind of blows due to bad pics. I'm fired.

Stormavik:

New arms aren't so bad.
Same earthquake that hit Schrage hit Stormavik, apparently:

And lastly, the new General Iron Bear:

He looks kind of derpy, doesn't he?

His hat doesn't fit very well either.

Oh, and the torso join on mine sucks big time:

There's like a centimeter between the upper and lower torso.

Those modern figures dwarf their ARAH counterparts, except Daina who remains the same size.

I instantly thought the same thing...just a tiny satche away from failure...

Are Red Star and Brekhov different characters?

When's the last time you smashed the entirety of Western Europe? ;)

The figures look ok I guess. With all the drama surrounding them I'd figure they would be painted a little nicer. As for the bent post on the backpack I'd try dropping it in some near boiling water for a bit and see if it will go back into shape. I do this with the gear on a lot of my figures to make them look nicer.

I opened the set to make sure mine weren't missing any parts. I gave the silly knife that came with Iron Bear to Horrorshow to fit in his empty holster. Fit like a charm, I felt it was dumb it went with IB to begin with.

What figure did the backpack that came with Daina and Stormavik originally come with?

I actually like the two dark, long-coated IGs. The other 6 are awful. Voltar is better than I thought. I think my favorite is Horrorshow, even with that coat. It does look better in person, though... You were right!

Of the og OG, Schrage is my least favorite, and he's the one I thought I'd like the most. His gear doesn't fit him well, and his neck is just ridiculously long. Iron Bear's head is way too tiny, and his parts are just bad and don't go with the rest of the figures in the OG half.

More to come in an official review! ;)

You joke, but that could be likely. This new job's not really hard, but it's got me busy from like 9am to 8pm, and that doesn't even count the commute.

They asked me to work this weekend. Fuuuuuck thaaaaat.

Torso join. He has a big old space between his upper and lower torso. the more I looked at it, the more it bothered me, so I emailed them to ask if they'd replace him, and they said yes.
