I've been thinking about getting a 1/16 scale RC tank. Preferably a Russian design, although a Pershing, Walker Bulldog, or Sherman with a 76mm long barrel would be awesome too. My only problem is not just the scale of the 1/16 scale tank in comparison to my already established collection of 1/18 scale vehicles (which have grown dramatically over the past few years including 4 half-tracks, 2 German tanks, and a Sherman) but also how big it is in comparison to figures.

It brings to mind whether or not the typical 3 3/4 figures would look right next or on the 1/16 tanks. I would think that they'd look too small, but my last visit to the Patton Museum surprised me because I was expecting all the vehicles to be smaller than they were. I suspect the 1/18 Bravo Team tanks are too small for the figures that were made in that line.

What do you guys think?

PS: I know for sure that the M16 Half-Track quad 50. turrets are too damn small, I can't fit any figures all the way down those things.

1:18 figures tend to work fine as they are usually in the 4" range. It's not at all uncommon to see 21st Century figures used with 1:16 armor.

As for the M16, is the quad too small or are the figures actually too large? Just food for thought.

Usual caveats about plastic not compressing like muscle and fabric also apply.

I wish there was a museum nearby that had an M16 Quad 50. so I can see for myself if the turret is suppose to be a tight fit. People today are on average taller then they were in the 1940's. When I visited the facilities in Oak Ridge where the Atomic Bombs were developed that are open to public tourists, I noticed that some of the rooms and doorways would clobber an inattentive teenager. So my question is if the World War 2 figures are too tall (big) or not. If so, would they look more accurate next or on a 1/16 scale tank of the era?

Also, how much bigger are the 50. machine guns on 1/16 tanks like the Walker Bulldog in comparison to the typical 1/18 gun? and does a 1/18 figure look weird manning it?

The pics I've seen of 1:18 figures on 1:16 armor look fine. 1:18 figures all tend to be Aryan Super Men in height.

I have a suspicion that 1:18 M2s are actually too small.

A 4" figure in 1:16 scale would look like a person who's is just over 5'3".

Average while male height in the u.s. is 5' 10" so a 4" figure of said person would need a scale of 1:17.5 so 1:17 would look nearly spot on for scale but I think 1:16 is damn close enough

Bravo Team Works well with it's M1. You have to put the Tankers in the sitting position. They go well with my 21st Century Bradley. OUR WAR figs can fit well in BBI Humvees ; but you have to figure out the proper sitting position. 21st century Helo pilots can go with Little Birds if one wanted to do a custom LOACH. As for Bravo Team and Power Team Elite vehicles the tankers work when stripping sidearm holsters but the HUMVEES do not have a snug fit inside.

With Bravo Team and Power Team Elite;it depends on how much web gear is on the figure. The solution is moving the Tanker's helmet to a figure with little or no web gear on it to make him fit and put him in the sitting position.

ok, well, what brand of RC tanks actually allows you to put real action figures in the hatches and stuff? Airsoft BBs sound real fun for shooting cans and cups and things but I'd rather have something I can put a figure in. I don't want to use those weird, static, tank commanders that don't have legs or a waist, stuck in a single pose, and require paint.

Sorry, way late to this thread.

Halftracks, Humvee and Blackhawk are 1:18, tanks are 1:16. Figures are a mix of 4" Joes and 3.75" Star Wars.
