Is it too early to talk about Custom Con 2015?

The first week of October I'm going to be in Florida. I wouldn't mind a springtime shin-dig...but that's just me.

Let me say this...

Unless we can get a confirmed number of people, and get enough money from everyone - ain't gonna happen.

I ended up getting stuck paying over $500 from my own pocket, for the last one.

I will NOT be doing that again.

Agreed. And you shouldn't have to do that.

I can check a couple hotels in my area to see what costs would be. I'm about 90 minutes south of Harrisburg. Far enough away from the bigger cities that prices might be cheaper.

Plus the local hobby store I frequent just moved and his new location has a big gaming room in the back with a little kitchen area. I could talk to him and see if he would let us setuo shop for a weekend of customizing and playing a big board game like we didn't get to do last year :)trollface:) Might even get other locals in the area to come out if we pitch it as a collectibles show one day.

Obi- I'm sorry that you had to foot that bill, that's not right.

I wouldn't be opposed to having it somewhere else in the PA/NJ/DE/MD area. Gettysburg is equidistant from Harrisburg and York, PA for what its worth. Just a thought that popped into my head this morning.

Truth is I don't know what I'll be doing in the next couple of months work/ house wise so as much as I'd like to confirm my participation in this I cant right now. I think that we (people that would be going) should pay up front though so that the organizer(s) don't get left holding the bag again. Last year's was a lot of fun, even with the drama of musical rooms. I'd like to see us continue the event even if it is only once a year.

Bumping this back up..anyone interested in a June event or something over the summer?

I'd would prefer an early or mid summer event over fall just because the kids will be out of school and I would possibly be able to plan a mini family vacation around that time. How close is the usual spot to historical Philadelphia ? What type of attractions are nearby that my wife and kids may enjoy while I'm playing with toys :) ?

The typical place is about 25 minutes from hershey park...bad news is summer time equals higher hotel costs with the park open.

If we had it closer to DC (hour or so away) hotels are fairly cheap and it's close enough to visit the District.

I'm probably going to have to take a pass this year. Between the new addition to the household in July, and our Disney trip in October...me leaving for a few days to go play with toys might end up with me coming home to an empty house...or...worse.

So I did some checking with a hotel near my house. I'm located about 90 minutes south of where we usually hold it.

We could get hotel rooms for $84.99 per night and a 24'x30' conference room for $150 per day.

If this is something you guys would be interested in doing, I'm up for putting it together. If we did it in early August, we'd be able to make use of the outdoor swimming pool, and I'm close enough to have a cook out Saturday night at my house.

Thoughts?

That's not too bad at all. So maybe $450 for the conference room...people could double up in the hotel rooms to help off set the price. I still probably won't be able to go, but I'll do what I can to help out.

I'm interested but still don't know where I'll be working/ living at that time. I interviewed for a job in VA last week and I have an interview for a job out in the Finger Lakes region of NY on Monday. Might have an offer coming from NH as well.

Good to see that there is still some interest in keeping this going though. Thanks for stepping up Mojo.

I have some other commitments scattered throughout August-October - as long as it doesn't conflict, I'm in.

I'm also considering hosting a one-day sort of thing at my house in July, if anyone's interested. (I get that would be more for locals)
