I have a question I hope a person here can answer me please. The Gold head Destro has two different date codes. One starts with a 7 and the other with an 8. Is the 7 the one that was sold at the Comic Con and the 8 the one that was sold on Hasbro ToyShop?

Actually the "8" was supposed to be a "midnight run" set. It was one that Hasbro did not authorize but AFA will still grade them. Cases of the 8 series came out almost a year later. I remember someone on HT that was selling them and had a picture of at leas 2 dozen so these were not something from the convention and HTS.

The 7 series in theory should be worth a little more but at this point nobody cares. The market has been tainted with the 8's and killed any value they may have held.

Are you asking because of the sudden pre-order available at BBTS? How they found a stash of 4 year old SDCC exclusives is beyond me.

ya i mean these were sold at the 2007 SDCC and here we are 2011 and BBTS has them on pre-order. If it is for the same ones with the 7 series date code that is cool but if they are the boot legs and listed at $75 bucks that is pretty jacked up.

Odds are it is the bootlegs. I find it hard to believe that they found the originals and are selling them for that price. BBTS does have some shady practices. Look how many of Zarana they had. I think it was like 200+ for pre order. That may have been close to what HTS offered the way they went.

Honestly, I have no problem with them if they are by the same mfg company, same tooling, etc. When I think bootleg, I think of someone copying the mold, making what amounts to a vastly inferior product, and selling them as the real McCoy. When it's the same company, same quality... you could look at it like a reissue, but it doesn't feel nearly as shady as a genuine bootleg.

I still don't get the appeal of that figure. It's ghastly.

Well it was really just a nod to the one that was in the 3 pack a few years before. Since only a few actually made it to the shelves it was cool of them to give it recognition. It is ugly but also straight pimpin'!

Never mind, it was 1997 so about 10 years before when that figure hit very few shelves.

It's a lame homage to an ugly fuck-up of a figure from the dark days of the late '90s.

It'll never live up to it's predecessors' ugliness or secondary market value.

Well if you had a real PDD, and not that 25th knock-off, you could get a top-shelf whore with the auction proceeds.
