Welcome! Hope people realize we broke that news first.. probably wont.. they'll link to that HT article.. but alas ;-) Hopefully we were getting the right info with the dates and the Data-Viper as well.

Perhaps it's fitting that, as Z-Day comes to an end, that I say on this thread that, as frustrating as the whole HTS experience was, I had fun today. This is a great site.

I joined here because of Rex's brick wall tutorial (which I still think is brilliant and awesome). It's only recently I've actually visited and posted. Now, when I view the topic thread titles in HT, I cringe, ignore them, and return to the 1:18th to see what's up.

You guys have made talking about collecting fun again. Thanks for keeping it real.

Thanks man, honestly. It's great to see that we still have some appeal to someone!

Way back whenever, we started with a tagline, and little else: "A place to BS without the BS". We just wanted a forum where we could have a good time, go off-topic, and just BS with each other, without having to worry about angry moderators/advertisers/etc.

The fact that we've grown to the point where we CAN cover news stories and get scoops etc is just icing on the cake.

Having a good community is really what the hobby should be about. The customs, dioramas, and other creative things people are doing these days is what is keeping people interesting, and bringing new people to the table.. and I thank all our members for making that a reality!

Even though the HTS thing was a total failure and makes me want to punch Hasbro in the soul, things panned out alright. Glad to have some other nutjobs in the mix who got screwed as well, but also some who managed to score some Z's (you bastards!).

Something was different about SDCC this year and it seems that more and more scalpers have caught wind of the HTS exclusives (I know that's not news in and of itself) but here's a little story that I think tells a larger story...

I took my stuff from the con to a FedEx office 8 blocks away from the center (no surcharges like they charge at the con) and as I was packing up my stuff a guy sitting there saw my Sentinel and asked if I got Starscream (i didn't because I didn't want it but I know it was the first item to sell out - gone by Friday evening). Then he asked me if I was a "reseller" and I said nope just a collector. He proceeded to tell me that his friend runs a booth that sells posters but that he didn't care about selling posters - he pays the vendor's fee for a small booth ($1800 per day) which gets them 7 or 8 vendor passes. Vendor passes get you some of the earliest possible access to the floor especially on preview night.

He continued to tell me that only one person worked the poster booth and the rest of them were there to just buy the exclusives. So I didn't think much of it - how much damage can 8 guys do after all? A few minutes later they started carting in their haul - I counted 17 cases of Sentinell, 15 of Starscream, 10 or so of Thor 15 cases of Death Stars and so on.

I'm not saying these guys singlehandedly cleared the merchandise but I can't imagine they are the only people using this technique to get their hands on tons of exclusives.

Well you had to refresh a page when it got an error to get to the next page. I'm sure lots of people gave up because of the errors. However sometimes even that didn't help & things got sold out anyway.

Actually, the free shipping glitch is supposed to be because of so much traffic. It completely screwed everything up.

Hey, one thing that I caught today...

I logged into HTS yesterday to confirm that my stupid-ass credit card info was logged and saved, and yet today, I had to re-enter my CC info because it wasn't in their system. Did this happen to anyone else? That's part of the reason I was delayed, was because I had to re-enter my fucking CC info over and over, and it wouldn't save it for some reason.

YES!! Happened to me too!! And entering it on my fucking iphone (while driving) was not easy.

I did the same thing last night too, made sure all my info was up to date and accurate.

Goddamn them! That was one of the most time-consuming things, and I was so pissed to have to re-enter it! The thing was, I screwed up the first time I entered it (forgot the damn expiration date) so I had to RE-ENTER IT AGAIN after it gave me the error message.

Fuck their site code blows.

Okay, so it wasn't just me. I normally have to put in the stupid 3-digit code on the back of the card (which pisses me off too, especially if you're after a hot item that's at risk to sell out fast) but the entire code was annoying because I don't have all that crap memorized by heart. And of course, I get sold out at the last possible screen. I've never seen another e-commerce site that has so many fucking steps of confirmation. It's like Microsoft designed the dialogue.

Same here. I've had to type in my CC# most of the time. Sometimes when I refreshed, it appeared to be already on file, it gave be the last 4 digits, and I had to type in the 3 digits on the back to verify, but if I tried to go to the next page, it gave me an error saying I didn't fill out my credit card info, which I had to re-type once again....
