I will no longer doubt your business intuition :D

Eh, I certainly don't know it all; I'll be the first to admit that. But no doubt an MBA changes your perspective a lot. It makes you quick to see everything from lots of angles (company, product design, competition, customers, production, marketing, logistics, pricing, etc).

I think there are a few other business school types around here. Maybe fogger, no?

Rex, you're right. I expected the mark-up to be worse.

Well, add in the ridiculous shipping that the Club charges and it's even closer in price. Hell, for the security of going though BBTS versus the Club, it may be worth the extra change to guarantee that your credit card doesn't get farmed out to Russians.

I work in advertising, but I only have a degree in design. I took several business and psych courses though, and have a basic understanding of how to run shit, although I have no wishes to run my own business.

Close enough. That counts in my book.

I'm far from being a club apologist, because heaven knows they screw up regularly. But on something like this, I understand their position. Really bad estimating got them in this boat, but given that situation, what they're doing does make sense. It just would have made a lot more sense months ago. Although I'm sure they'd tell you that there were logistics and production issues that prevented them from going forward with a second run sooner. I guess all I'm really saying is that there are a lot of angles to consider, and very few things in any small business are black and white.

Hey, Nacho, Fogger, MW... You guys got the original sets directly from your Club memberships... Did you ever get your non-attending pins with your boxed sets?

I had a little note in my box that said pins weren't ready in time and would be mailed out in 2-3 weeks or something to that effect. Never happened. Not that I give much of a damn about a pin, but just curious.

Also don't have to pay the club sub if you get it through BBTS...heh, might even save some money

I wasn't able to get one since I was working when they went live and sold out in a manner of hours

Motherfuckers! Nope, didn't get that. I got the 2-piece one that fit in the foam insert.

I just emailed them, I had all but forgotten about it. I just assumed, like their newsletter, and the FSS, and anything else that they do, that it wasn't going to be on time. And then I waited, and forgot about it.

I don't really give that much of a damn about a pin, but out of spite I want it, all things considered.

LOL. Well, I paid their ridiculous price for one, and didn't even get one. Soo....

Also I got this email from Brian today:

In case you are not getting the email from the store server (we are working on this), check out the club website for the announcement concerning the second run for the Oktober Guard.

We just received permission to do this. I know the timing is not great at the end of the year but if we want to get them by the spring we have to get the order in soon.

Also, if people ask why we are doing this: Because of the difficulty with the financial systems last year, we could not start registration early enough for the convention so that we could modify the qty produced for the con. We felt that after your response, we left a lot of people hanging and that is not our goal. I know some people will be happy and some unhappy that we are doing this but we felt it was what the club members wanted us to do.

Thanks!

Brian

PS. Sorry if I doubled you up on the emails, as I was having to harvest them from the spread sheet responses from this summer, as each of you indicated you would like to purchase a set if we were able to run them again.

^ That actually shows effort on their part, and is a respectable answer for once. You've got to give them that. (It's a roundabout apology, but one step closer to one.)

Just got an email that the end date is being pushed to December 3rd.

I didn't bother to read the email because I am not ordering (although I would like to). But what is the reason for pushing it back? Not as many people sign up as they thought?

Just a reminder, if ANYONE is still interested... The OG set has one more day. Er, the cutoff is December 3rd, however that works out. Is that tomorrow at midnight?

I just can't pull the trigger. I love these Oktober Guard figures but I just can't justify the price at this time. It was the same with the FSS.

Update from the Club:

Hello everyone,

Our closing date for the second run of the Oktober Guard was yesterday. However, we did not meet the MOQ (minimum order quantity) required by the manufacturer. We are about 100 orders short. Here is what we are going to do: We are moving ahead and placing the order with the manufacturer so they will arrive in the spring. We are also leaving the pre-orders open until the MOQ is sold. Once these are gone, that's it.

So, how much longer will you have to order them? Unknown, just depends on how fast they go. We know that the timing on this was not great, so we are hoping that by leaving the pre-orders open, more people will be able to get this fantastic set.

Here is the original announcement:

The official G.I. Joe Collectors' Club is proud to announce a special limited edition second-run of the "sold out" and extremely popular 2012 Operation: Bear Trap! convention set.

This exclusive Oktober Guard vs. Iron Grenadiers set includes fifteen modern era 3 3/4-inch action figures with weapons and accessories. You will get the classic Oktober Guard characters such as Colonel Brekhov, Daina, Schrage, Stormavik and Horror Show. Plus, for the first time ever... the Oktober Guard General: Iron Bear. The Iron Grenadiers have unique troop builders that include: Iron Grenadier Elite Troopers x4, Iron Grenadier Elite Guards x2, Iron Grenadier Heavy Weapon Specialists x2 and also for the first time ever... the Iron Grenadier General: Voltar!

Don't miss this limited edition second-run of these fantastic Oktober Guard vs. Iron Grenadiers action figures. You must be an official G.I. Joe Collectors' Club member to order. Visit the Club Store to pre-order before the Nov. 30th, 2012 deadline! (Product will be shipping in the spring of 2013, exact date TBD). Cost is $360 per set (plus shipping). Only boxed sets will be produced and the production run will only be what is pre-ordered. Don’t miss this final opportunity to own this highly sought after set! Check it out at GIJoeClub.com/shop.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

That's at least good for folks who couldn't shell out all that money pre-Christmas. Maybe some folks will be able to snag one afterwards, if there are any left?

http://forums.yojoe.com/variants/113052-2012-con-set-reissue-og-vs-ig.html

Saw this at HT, but it was linked from YoJoe so I'll just go straight to the source. Apparently the second run has some changes, some minor, some more significant, and some omissions and additions (red paint apps missing, most disappointingly on Schrage's arm star, and an addition of an accessory that was cut on the original run for Iron Bear... a holster that doesn't fit him  ).

And a new certificate of authenticity that cites the second run.

Yeah, I've been following it on YoJoe. I want to get a set but don't want to spend the coin on it.

It's a good set, for the most part. Well, the OG anyways, the IGs can suck it. I guess I need to read the comics they're in to appreciate them (I stopped reading my TPBs a few months ago around the issues that they show up, I think, so I need to get back to them) but I can't stand the IGs. Doesn't help that the annoying HissTank dudes are raging queens about how goddamn awesome that Destro's private militia is. I personally think they just like all the purple, pink and black latex suits.
