After seeing your earlier post about the feet, I thought you'd be interested in those, lol.
I should have added this photo too. I cast these parts for Xhairs. I've been pretty happy with how the body parts have been turning out. I had a much easier time putting these legs together than the F118 fig. Heated up the legs and the peg went right in the first time with no issues.
The neck joint was a 25th head adapter I made back in 2010 for Xhairs' spare parts figure challenge. It doesn't look as bad in black, heh heh.
Larry Croft is just awesome!! Very cool!! Leave the derpy eyes if you plan on repainting. They fit so well.

I really need to figure out how to make molds myself - I have resin and have made casts from other peoples' molds before.
We should try to convince DW to show us in a summer get together. hehe, notice how I worked myself into the mix. Dave gave me a walkthrough a long time ago on molds but it wasn't hands on. DW did show me pouring plastic hands on once though. Man that stuff gets warm.
Dave showed me once or twice as well, but he only went into the pouring process. Apparently there's more to it (at least in how he does it).
I've got a pretty detailed video that goes through the whole process, pretty sure I've linked it before. It's the next best thing to being there. Honestly, get some materials, watch some videos, and experiment. I don't think everyone does it exactly the same way.
me too, Its that solo fear. I fear so bad I will ruin the part I am trying to cast and don't want to start casting with stuff I dont care about or need because of cost.
Guess I should just do it, had the same fear before I cracked my first torso. Now that is second nature.

Slayer Dave was the guy that got me going down the right path for molding and casting. I started out with the crappy alumilte products and a bubble from a carded figure as my mold box. There wasn't much for tutorials back in 2007 and when Dave saw my less than stellar results he got in touch with me about the process. We talked multiple times for a few hours about molding, casting, action figures, and things in general. A lot of what I've done with molding and casting I owe to Dave. I even still have the mold he sent me showing how he did it.
Definitely check out Starwarsgeek's vids. They are the best tutorials out there that I've seen and they offer a lot of insight into the process and things you want to avoid. Also be prepared to spend a lot of money up front to get started. This part of the hobby isn't cheap but the rewards are well worth the time and effort. The minimum tools you'll need are the pressure pot ($100-$500) and a compressor ($100). The materials will run you about $30 for the silicon and $30 for the plastic. That's enough silicon to mold all the joints pieces in the photo I posted.
You also need plastic cups, a gram scale, something to stir your chemicals, a syringe (to get the resin in your molds), rubber gloves, paper towels (did you know this stuff is messy?), some color tints (unless you want all your parts to be clear), and a good block of time. I spend more making the molds than any other part of the process. Knowing how to set your pieces up in the mold so you can cut them out when it's time is pretty critical too.
I had a pressure pot and all the materials I needed for over a year before I finally just sat down and did it. I really didn't want to screw anything up. It is pretty daunting at first but once you get used to it (and you will) you'll be amazed at what you can do. When you find that you need more than few parts for a project, molding and casting will be very helpful.

Been working on my Acid Rain contest entry. Mech suit w/pilot and heavy support gunner. Figures are pieced together but not painted, mech suit is 95% complete, base coated and started weathering it today.

Trying to find a matching red paint for SDCC Jinx. I just discovered the Retaliation Jinx feet are better proportioned than the SDCC's beast feet.

That's what I've been using on my WIP female shock trooper...that's the newer version that's "less endowed". Been so busy with moving,work,and side work I haven't had time to do anything besides buy stuff from work tho

I think the arms work well for that new style military sweater that Shock Trooper wears. They just need sleeve cuff details added. But they're too thin I think for traditional BDU sleeves.

Did a cast of DG Duke head. An air bubble got stuck in the nose and I had to convert it into a skull. Hard to photograph... maybe better to see when I paint it. I'm pleased.
