I don't know if it was a marketing stunt or not. They've had other items like this that didn't meet the minimum (YJ 2-pack IIRC) and didn't get made. I certainly wouldn't put it past mattel, but I honestly didn't pay close attention to their shenanigans to judge if it was all for show or not. I was going to get one if they made them, and if not, oh well. No hype required.

But yeah, I am stoked. My kids will thank me someday.... or curse me for spending all their college money on lots and lots of toys.

I'd be tempted to get it if I had the room. All I need are He-Man, Orko, Man-At-Arms, Battle Cat, Skeletor, Beastman, and a few more of the Horde...

Who am I kidding, I wouldn't stop at those, which is why I never started.

I probably would have collected the line *even some of the D-listers* if it had been an actual retail line. I'll never forgive Mattel for the 2002 line.

Yeah, the MotU line and the DCUC line costing so much kept me from being a completist...it was easy to get only the ones I really wanted...especially with MotU since if you missed the online sale, you had to pay double that on scalperbay...

It was actually DCUC that broke me from being a completist. I bought a lot of waves where I only cared about two figures just to get the BAF parts. Then when the figures went from $10 to $15 to $18 over night, the idea of shelling out for a whole wave when it contained four or five worthless characters was just not realistic. Thus I just stopped caring all that much.

It was the blackest night wave that really did it for me though. At that point I was already cherry-picking. I wanted the Anti-monitor BAF, but I wanted exactly zero of the figures in the wave, a bunch of story-specific repaints (barf). So I just waited and bought a complete BAF on ebay for about the cost of two regular figures.

Then they basically stopped making figures... which makes it real easy to cut back. ;)

Mattel... when will they ever stop being second-rate? Sometimes I think they really try to be a quality, fan-friendly company. They have their moments, and I try hard to like them. But most of the time their actions make me certain they are operated by inebriated helper monkeys.

After holding off for so long, I have finally caved with the new line. Seems Matty have fixed all the things I hated about the line originally. They've fixed the loose ankles, dumb website and international shipping. I already know exactly what I'm going to buy, probably about a third of the range. Those shitty She Ra figures suck, so do 90% of the new characters. Hope they make Two Bad and Ninjor!
I'm drawing up some plans to make a big castle Grayskull. I think the preorder one still isn't big enough. Plus I can make the doors from oak and just do the whole thing a lot better. Gonna start on that in the new year.

I opened my Fisto. That's a fucking awesome toy right there. Does anyone have any to trade btw?

Here's the ones I want - Beast Man, Clawful, Mer Man, Scare Glow, Shadow Beast, Skeletor, Trap Jaw, Tri Klops, Whiplash, Wind Raider, Castle Greyskull man, Ram Man.

I cracked and Preordered Castle Greyskull. They won't bill me until it ships so that's a year away. I figure if I don't like the actual pics I can cancel the order. Or if I get it and don't like it in hand I can sell it for more than I paid for it.
I'll be making a custom Snake mountain now. Be much easier anyway.

Heh, for sure!

I'm such a simp though lol. I was all piss and vinegar when anyone mentioned Matty collector up until a few days ago. I hated their website fuck ups, incorrect figure assembly, crappy ankle joints, the promise to never reissue core characters and outrageous international shipping costs. The biggest thing that made me hate on them was when they said they would do nothing from the 200X line. I was all "well fuck you then! 200X was the best He-Man stuff". I got Trap Jaw but resold him after openening him due to his crappy ankles. I didn't even look at anymore He-Man stuff until I saw Pixel Dan's Ram Man review. I saw his 200X head. Then I watched the Fisto review. Including his 200X head, belt and a sword that was cut from the 200X line? Fuck yeah! Then I saw Carnivus, Whiplash's 200X parts, Griffin, etc. Then the final straw was seeing they reissued Trap Jaw.
Literally every single thing I hated about them had been fixed. Now I'm a total Matty mark. I did a 180 big time.

I think they've stated that there will be no cancellations or refunds. The only way to get out of it would be to cancel the card you ordered it on so that the transaction can't go through. Otherwise, you're stuck just like the rest of us ;)

Normally, I'd have a lot of faith in the 4H and matty to deliver on something this cool, but the BTTF Hoverboard (the first item matty solicited in this fashion) has not been particularly well received... so I guess I'm cautiously optimistic.

Well I have it easy really, I seem to be snagging them at half price. Just sniping. I figure if I winone auction out of twenty, I'll have all the ones I want soon. Plus I'm collecting alongside my friend, so he'll be getting the ones I don't want.

I just bought a loose Zodac from China. Can anyone suggest a good weapon for him?

I ordered Granamyr today. It was a total nostalgia purchase. There's no way I'd normally justify $100 for an action figure ($80 + tax + shipping), even a large one, but I can't tell you how many times I read the mini comic he first appeared in. That's one creepy dragon. I consider him a must, just like the castle.

Slush head.... yeah I skipped that one. Actually, I skipped all the NA figures. I just have no nostalgic attachment to them at all.

I love the original MOTU series, and love the Classics line that gives us the modern versions of the figures we had as kids.

My problem is how Mattel continues this crazy behavior with their products.

1.) Quality Control. Anyone who owns the Goddess figure knows about the brittle plastic in the groin area, as is the case with Roboto's chest/torso/shoulder region. I was nervous twisting Spikor's arms and waist around because they felt like they might break if I tried to push them or pull them.

2.) The subscription service that foists lots of weird and unwanted characters onto our credit cards is the primary reason I stayed out this year. As much as I wanted to renew, that bad line-up was overshadowing the few good figures in store.

3.) This stuff about "order the subscription service now, and find out what we will release in the second half of 2013" was outrageous, and on par with Nancy Pelosi's absurd "We have to vote for it in order to find out what's in it" crap.

Mattel really needs to get their shit together, because I suspect 2013 is going to be a ridiculous year for both the line and the relationship between the company and customers.

I am still curious if we will ever see figures like Blade, Rio Blast, Ninjor, Blast Attak, and vehicles like Talon Fighter/Point Dread, Land Shark, Spydor, Fright Zone, Stridor, Battle Ram, and so forth....

Point Dread could come with a CD and book just like the original set came with a record/book.

2013 could be a banner closing year for the line with some really great classic stuff like that, as the sales would most likely be good and the customers would be happier with the company.

Instead, we are made fun of by the sophomoric assholes at Mattel for asking questions and making legitimate points such as these.
