Ha! That's the TF I painted tan and sent you years ago. Funny to see the club copy my idea.

From what I read elsewhere, one of the sets with Chuckles is an exclusive, and one isn't.

There were only two sets that were SDCC exclusives in the reports I read, and one of those was a TRU exclusive and will likely be (briefly) available online. It's not all doom and gloom.

The SDCC packs are the same only with a bonus figure

Regular=chuckles. SDCC=chuckles and night fox.

I don't chuckles head. Mine's still better.

It's grey, not blue.

The H&R in the case also isn't complete with the paint apps. It's suppose to have tiger stripe.

That's not as bad, but I'm still a little miffed that the figure of Night Fox isn't going to be available to myself, but whatever I guess. Which one is the other SDCC exclusive that won't be getting a regular release? The Skystriker repainted as a Cobra Plane?

I was looking at that painting or whatever of that picture they're using to advertise the SDCC stuff. At first I thought I really liked it because it reminded me of the neat old school artwork you'd see for toy adverts, but then I realised something strange about it. It's a aesthetical mess. It can't decide if it wants to be old school cheesy 80's action, or contemporary grey/brown military action. The artwork and actual aesthetic of GI Joe these days reminds me of a quote from the Might Boosh, a crappy comedy show that aired on Adult Swim back in 2009 and 2010. "Elements of the past and the future combining to make something not quite as good as either"

Really looking forward to Storm Shadow and Gung-Ho. Those were two of my favorites as a kid and probably had the most playtime.

Were there any photos of the customs? That's one of things I always look forward to from JoeCon.

The entire concept of SDCC Joe exclusives has become a showcase for how dickheaded Hasbro can be, imho. Repaints are fine, entire characters are simply a way to guarantee the customers can't all have a complete collection.

Is this selection of product supposed to be indicative of the new brand manager's revamping of the line in a new and exciting direction, because it looks solidly like the same old tired stuff with no direction or enthusiasm.

Also, a red crocodile? Dafuq?

Funnily enough, the only real night camo we ever had didn't have a drop of black in it:

All-black is almost as ridiculous as that blue Hasbro is using.

Yeah but it failed miserably with enemy optics.

I did watch a video about how that pattern is amazing in lush forest environments though.

Anyone else notice the Gary Goggles tribute figure includes a shovel? Honset mistake by Hasbro or intentional dig at the guy who was a thorn in their side for many years?

It wasn't an insult. The figure was made beforehand, they took the opportunity to rename it after Gary's death.

Point still stands, black (or blue) utilities do not nocturnal camouflage make. And while I'm at it, taking 4-color Woodland, printing it in black, white and a couple of grey tones doesn't make it an effective urban camouflage, regardless of what HT tells you.

Those were done by the previous brand manager.
Blowtorch & Croc Master were holdovers from POC. The fans kept asking where those were. So it's our own fault in a sense.

The new brand manager was announced in January. That's not enough time to find a crocodile color that's not red? If everything we're getting this year is still from the old guy, what's the point of getting a new guy?

As was mentioned, these are those "missing" PoC figures that people with bad taste have been clamouring for. The croc is shite anyway and anyone serious, at least as serious as one can be about such a throw-away character, will already be looking to upgrade. Papo, Schleich, Safari Inc. are all good options.

Worst 2-pack ever. I can't believe someone didn't put the brakes on at least the Blowtorch figure.

Holy crap.

These tools in the facebook discussions are all the asshats that finally found life outside of HT.

God forbid someone says they don't like the choices of parts or colors.

THE FANDOM HEZ WANTED TEH GREEN BLOWJOB AND RED COCKMASTER FER YERZ!!!!1111.

Then make it an SDCC exclusive so it doesn't take up a spot that clearanced out a month ago for the same damn figure.

Poor Gyre-Viper. Finally immortalized in plastic only to have his legacy figure ripped apart by anal retentive man babies over the fact that his figure is just a Retaliation Ultimate Duke repaint that can not properly shoulder his sniper rifle. Sometimes I wonder why people even collect these toys if they cant find anything about them they enjoy. Thats why I gave up on the Club. I got tired of having to fix or settle for crap I didn't really like in the first place.

Exactly. I don't care if it's FSS slots, SDCC exclusives or Club freebie figures, just keep that shit far away from the pegs of my local TrU.

As to Gyre figure. Eh, they slapped his name on a preexisting figure. My issue is more of nothing about the figure jives with its MOS.

Tom Clancy gave a long explanation in Rainbow Six that night camo is solid dark green (think Tears of the Sun) because the human eye evolved to pick out black shapes and all black actually shines in IR or something like that. Also, night vision is displayed in green because that is the color our eyes can pick out the most shades of. I trust Mr Clancy and the Navy SEALs back it up with their solid green jumpsuits.

But, but, they'll all look the saaaaame!

Clancy is probably correct, but I have to mention that that book was published 17 years ago, and that I believe environment dictates uniforms.
I also think we should be using olive drab utilities for everywhere that isn't a fucking desert, so that tells you what my opinion is worth.

Hasbro G.I. Joe Product Panel at JoeCon 2015 (New 2015 Toy Reveals and More!) - YouTube

If you want to watch the whole panel.

There are a lot of useful parts in the sets they are bringing out. Two chances to get the shock trooper body which is a nice bonus. All in all, I'm not disappointed with anything really except for the Blowtorch / Crocmaster two pack and the MASS Device 3 pack that will be pointless if they don't include the MASS device piece that everyone needed. They could have put in an Ultimate CC, a 50th Blueshirt, and made an updated Duke (even if they only added other legs and arms) and that would have been a set that was more desirable. As it stands it's pretty meh.

It makes me wonder how well a 5 pack would sell that had the same body, same paint job, but different heads and weapons for each.

Or imagine if the brand manager was really serious about Army builders and they brought out 3 packs of just one trooper? Three blueshirts, three shocktroopers, three steel brigade, etc?

19.99 seems like a fucking steal for three good army builders.

Apparently not. Everything was finalized with the old guy. It takes them a year of planning everything.
The new guy he will be doing the new Joe movie line or whatever is next.

Lots of people were asking where those 2 went. Apparently that got translated into that they were wanted.
Also lots of people wanted that MASS set to complete theirs. The mistake Hasbro made is obvious.
It all comes down to a failure in communication between Hasbro and fans.

At the end of the club panel there were about 5 questions.
One of them was if they could make FSS figures in baggies to get the price down. Brian shot that down right away.
Maybe I suck in economics but isn't it the point to sell more items to make more money???
Another question was about the Night Force Crazylegs fiasco. Apparently they messed up & used the figures that were to go to the volunteers dropping them. Instead they took out that number from their sale inventory leaving them with less to sell. They did not answer if they were going to make more. I'm pretty sure the answer is no.
It is obvious to me they do not order enough inventory on purpose. They also do not limit the "inside" people from buying whatever they want.

Oh and 12 inch collectors are an endangered species. In a room of about 100 people maybe 6 or 7 raised their hands when they asked where are our 12 inch collectors?
I am convinced the budget is not balanced when they make them. They need to drop the totals to 100.

It sounds like the lead designer has a lot of say in what happens. He designed the blueberry pack to do try something new. I can't think of his name, something vi-something-t.

I noticed something interesting here...no Snake Eyes.

Yeah talked about that in the Hasbro panel...said storm shadow versus snake eyes has been done a lot what else could they do...someone suggested Sunbow cartoons of Spirit versus SS and that's what they gave us.

So much for him being a breath of fresh air. I could have overlooked the blue granting that these were fodder figures, but the wave 1 Rockblock legs are unacceptable.

I thought Spirit was interesting until I got to those damn Snake Eyes legs. I noticed that quite a bit in the pics, those dubious parts decisions.
