Just plonked down $326 on figures - Draego-Man (I traded the first one I had with my friend, then got trader's remorse and had to get another), BA He-Man, Clawful, Zodak, Weapons Rack, MAA, Rattlor and GU weapons pak. the last three are for my friend though.

Also just bought myself the GU weapons from a Tanker, and Snout Spout from The BLAY.

Sadly, Mattel's MSRP actually ARE scalpery prices! $27 per figure, plus $10 shipping, plus tax. Seriously, one 6" figure bought from mattycollector is basically $40. It's criminal.

And now toyguru gets on his soapbox again, met with swift vitriol:

I've seen a lot of comments today on Facebook about Fangman not being worth $25/$27.00. I wish it was less expensive to make these figures but reality being what it is, production/material costs have risen necessitating this price increase (that in all fairness we announced back in July!).

As we start looking at a potential 2014 line, do fans want the same quality/accessories and package we have now, or would you prefer we found ways to cost reduce the figures back down to $20.00? This would likely include things like very minimal packaging (i.e. a polly bag), no accessories and reduced deco.

What say you? Keep as is or go for a less expensive version of figures that can come in closer to $20.00? Just curious what everyone's thoughts are.

At this point, I only pick up 2-3 figures per year, and after Ram Man and Castle Grayskull, I don't give two shakes if the line continues. I literally have no clue who most of the characters are (I often wonder if Mattel knows who they are...). But the idea of continually escalating the prices on these already overpriced figures is silly. Even if the character selections were noteworthy, I'd balk at all but the absolute must-haves, but for figures that are beyond obscure? Get real. And sending them in a polybag isn't exactly going to increase the perceived value.

I'm beginning to think they are trying to push this line to end, so why not make some $$ while they are at it. They know the completionists out there will pony up, and though I'm far from a completionist I for one am ok (so far) paying the prices they have. In saying that I have my other line (S.H. MonsterArts) that I get and those figures are $50 and up over $100 a piece. Because its my passion I don't think twice about buying them, and its better than going to Outback and spending $60 on a dinner and the next day nothing to show for it.

That said I am getting to the point were I will only buy just a few more figures and then I'll be sitting on my thumbs waiting for the castle.

I didn't even think about the horse until I saw the one Headman had.. and She-ra just looked good on it, so I figure why not. And now I'm off to google this robot chicken sketch and see what furry memories I have get twisted.

As far as the collection goes, I have the damn castle to blame for it. When that got the green light I had to start my collection over again, but that damn castle is gonna be sooo sweet!

and for those who don't know about it... over 25" tall!

She-ra is still available on Mattycollector.com. If you plan on having it on the horse (Swiftwind) look for the Bubble power She-ra as she has improved articulation over the earlier release

what bites is that just a month ago you could have bought both for less then $40. Matty also stated they won't be reissuing figures any longer so once their gone, thats it. Scalper prices galore. Pretty sure they want to go from this line into the movie line when it comes out.

these are intended for adult collecting but actually yeah, they hold up pretty good for the kids. My daughter (7 then) got ahold of a few and I didn't notice anything wrong with them... other than sitting having tea with barbie. I guess it depends on how rough your daughter is.

yeah that framing would stand out. I was incorrect in a previous post. It seems the prototype grayskull had a hidden door in that location but the castle that was produced omitted that feature. Evidently the Toy Guru pushed to get the door put in as it was originally intended. I thought it was his idea. Regardless, I am so stoked! and I can't get over the footprint the castle has

I don't have an issue with the prices or shipping.

QC is a little iffy at times but my biggest issue (with any line) is the availability of limited run figures. Fisto? I never had a chance to get that guy, let alone Shadow Weaver the Sorceress and others. Granted, yes I should have a had a subscription but events out of my control prevented that. The other things I put out there was why all these obscure characters?

Accessory packs!! I love these things! Granted I wish there were less orange and neon'ish stuff but weapon variety is a must!

Vehicles. Though not a big vehicle fan myself this is something I hear a lot from collectors. One I would love would be the Battleram that was shown last year... must have fallen off the production table.

Those are my biggest issues pretty much. What did you guys say?

Early Access

The Early Access period for subscribers is Thursday, February 14th at 8am PT through Friday, February 15th at 8am PT.

For February, the figures are Faker® and Kobra Kahn™. Neither figure is included with 2013 Club Eternia® subscriptions and if they sell out during Early Access they won’t be available to the general public during the regular monthly sale. Most are leftover Customer Service stock – they’re first run (not reissues) and won’t have the burst on the package. And finally, a reminder that Early Access products are sold separately from subscription products so shipping can’t be combined.

$9.90 for one figure from Mattycollector.com and to my addy for two figures was $11.05.

I frequently buy from Amazon (prime, free shipping) and search high and low for good deals.
